Discover Flamenco

From the very beginning, the Taller de Músics has striven to ensure that such a rich music as Flamenco should have the necessary pedagogical tools to permit its expansion, so that in the field of teaching it is on the same level as other musics. With this philosophy the Taller de Músics provides the necessary space to develop the tasks of creation, study, practice, and diffusion of flamenco music, thereby breaking with the myth that flamenco is somehow an innate art, inaccessible to those who have not been born into the gypsy culture or who are not connected to its Andalusian roots. The study of flamenco is extensive and rich in musical concepts and resources and it can be acquired by all those who wish to get to know it better.

With the aim of continuing to facilitate access to a practical and theoretical education in flamenco, the Virtual Taller de Músics begins the journey with Discover Flamenco, a course that takes an in-depth look at the history and musical theory of the genre, taking into account the latest reflections of experts in the different subjects, updating the more prevalent theories and delving into some of the myths that are still commonly held in the world of flamenco. We also want to instil a love for flamenco based on the detailed study of the flamenco forms so that the student can learn to differentiate the flamenco palos through knowledge of their principal musical elements.

  • The suggested timetable of two units a week is advisable in order to satisfactorily complete the subject, however, as it is a 100% online course, you determine the pace of your own studies. You should however factor in the following limitations: your access to the course will expire after 3 months if you are doing one module, and after 6 months if you are doing the full course.

HOW THE UNITS WORK

  • You must reach the end of each unit to be able to move on to the next. Therefore you will not be able to access the next unit until you have completely finished the previous one.

HOW THE QUIZES WORK

  • You have two opportunities to do the quizzes, only the highest grade of the two will be counted towards your results. If a pass is not achieved after two attempts, at the end of the course an opportunity will be provided to resit the quiz.
  • Before doing the quizzes, ensure you have assimilated all of the theory part and reviewed all the resources provided by the tutor, the questions will not only be about the theory part.

MEANS OF COMMUNICATION
