Martin Leiton is a self-taught musician who has evolved within jazz and Latin American folklore, as well as Afro-American music and flamenco. He plays several instruments, such as the double bass, electric bass, guitar and piano, and moreover works as a composer and arranger.
He released two albums as leader: Medium (2011, 96k music) and Poetry of Sound (2015, Underpool) and several works as co-leader. He is currently a member of the Martin Leiton Trio, Martin Leiton Big Band, Jorge Drexler, Gabriel Amargant Trio, Seward, Ramon Prats Quartet and UNDr. He has played with Kenny Werner, Jeff Ballard, Jorge Rossy, Perico Sambeat, Jorge Pardo, Eric Marienthal, Vicente Amigo, Chano Domínguez, Jorge Drexler and Niña Pastori, among others. He worked as a session musician with producers such as Matt Pence, Carles Campi Campón and Juan Rodríguez Berbín. As a teacher, he gives classes on the fundamentals of composition at the Taller de Músics Bachelor of Music.
