Oriol Vallès

Adjunct Professor

Oriol Vallès (Terrassa, 1993) is a trumpeter, composer, and arranger. He was a finalist in the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition (United States) and the Leiden Jazz Award (Netherlands). He lived for three years in New York, where he completed a Master’s Degree in Performance at the Manhattan School of Music, performed in various city clubs (Fat Cat, Silvana, Shapeshifter Lab…), and studied with Ron Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Vincent Herring, Dave Liebman, Jeremy Pelt, among others. Previously, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree with Highest Honors from ESMuC.

Biografía

He has performed at major European festivals such as Jazz à Marciac, the Nice Jazz Festival, Brussels Summer Festival, JazzTerrassa Festival, and the Barcelona Jazz Festival. He has recorded and performed with Jesse Davis, Dave Kikoski, Perico Sambeat, Toni Belenguer, the Barcelona Art Orchestra, Barcelona Jazz Orchestra, The Gramophone All-Stars, Smack Dab, Lluc and Joan Casares, Irene Reig, Alba Pujals, among others. He has released 5 albums under his own name and 15 as a co-leader or sideman. He is a founding member of the collective/record label The Changes, which has released around forty albums and has received the AMJM Award for recording work and the Altaveu Prize.
