Renowned drummer Antonio S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>, five-time Grammy Award<\/strong> winner and composer of the Birdman<\/em> soundtrack, will offer an exclusive masterclass at the Taller de M\u00fasics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Under the title The Art of Playing in Ensemble Combined with Motivic Development in Improvisation<\/em>, S\u00e1nchez will share the keys to making the most of any musical situation, exploring interpretation and improvisation techniques applicable to any instrument or voice.<\/p>\n

This session will be a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most influential musicians in contemporary jazz<\/p>\n

ANTONIO<\/strong> S\u00c1NCHEZ<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mexican drummer, five-time Grammy Award winner, and nominee for the Golden Globe, Emmy, and BAFTA Awards. He studied classical piano at the Escuela Superior de M\u00fasica in Mexico City and earned a degree in Jazz from the Berklee College of Music<\/strong> and the New England Conservatory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Throughout his career, he has been part of ensembles with some of the greatest figures in contemporary music, including Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Gary Burton, Joshua Redman, B\u00e9la Fleck<\/strong>, and for more than 22 years, he was the drummer of choice for Pat Metheny<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As a bandleader, he has released ten albums ranging from modern jazz to alternative rock, including his most recent work, SHIFT \u2013 Bad Hombre Vol. II<\/em> (Warner Music, 2022), featuring artists such as Trent Reznor, Dave Matthews, Meshell Ndegeocello, Silvana Estrada, Kimbra, Ana Tijoux, Lila Downs<\/strong>, among many others.<\/p>\n

In 2014, he composed the soundtrack for Birdman<\/em>, the Academy Award\u2013winning film directed by Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu<\/strong>. This work launched him into the world of visual arts and earned him numerous accolades, including a Grammy<\/strong> and nominations for the Golden Globe<\/strong> and BAFTA<\/strong> Awards. Since then, he has composed music for feature films, documentaries, and television series, including Get Shorty<\/em>, The Anarchists<\/em>, and most recently The Studio<\/em>, produced by Seth Rogen<\/strong>, for which he received an Emmy nomination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Antonio has appeared on the covers of major music magazines such as DownBeat, JazzTimes, Jazziz, Modern Drummer,<\/em> and DRUM!<\/em>, among many others.<\/p>\n

He has also devoted a significant part of his career to music education<\/strong>, offering workshops and masterclasses around the world.<\/p>\n
