Iñaki Grau is a young professional trumpeter and secondary school teacher who began his music studies at the age of 11 in L’Olleria. With over 15 years of experience on stage and in trumpet education—five of which have been in high schools—he has built a solid career as both performer and educator.
He was one of the standout students of internationally renowned trumpeter José Chàfer Mompó, his long-time mentor and the person who introduced him to the world of classical trumpet. He has also taken advanced training courses with renowned artists such as Eric Aubier, Adam Rapa, Allen Vizzutti, Uve Coller, Rex Richardson, Juanjo Serna, Carlos Benetó, Bill Lucas, Rubén Marqués, and Tomas Gansch, among others.
Iñaki completed his Professional Degree at the Conservatory of Ontinyent, where he studied with Vicent Oliver, Fernando Sansaloni, and Xavier Boïls. He then earned his Higher Degree at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia under José Chàfer.
He later pursued a year of advanced trumpet studies in Brussels under Manu Mellaerts, principal trumpet of the Brussels Opera, director of Belgian Brass, and professor at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He furthered his training with Juanjo Serna and Carlos Benetó of Spanish Brass Luur Metals, with whom he performed in a concert at the SBALZ Festival in Alzira.
He is currently exploring the world of modern music with guidance from mentors Adam Rapa and David Pastor.
Iñaki has contributed to several recordings alongside Adam Rapa, Rubén Simeó, Andreu Valor, Intokables Big Band, and the Valencia Brass Band. He is a member of the Valencia Brass Band and has collaborated with orchestras such as the Murcia Symphony Orchestra, the València Chamber Orchestra, and the Caixa Ontinyent Orchestra. As a soloist, he performed Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets and Orchestra with José Chàfer and the Ímpetu Barroca Chamber Orchestra.
He has also competed in trumpet competitions in Poland, the United States, and Spain, reaching the finals in two of them.
Through his educational work, he developed and presented El Proyector Mágico, an educational project showcased at the EDUCA 2022 World Education Congress in Santiago de Compostela.
