Born in La Seu d’Urgell in 1990, Javier Garrabella began studying music at the age of 13 at the l’Intèrpret school in Lleida, where he trained in solfege, piano, drums, bass and harmony with Jaume Olivé.
In 2015 he graduated from the Bachelor of Music with Pepe Cucurella and Dee Jay Foster. He studied one year of composition with Enric Palomar and then he started with the Carnatic rhythms by Rafa Reina (2 years of continuous formation in the ESMUC).
His current active projects are Los Aurora (flamenco, contemporary jazz), Ethic Labs (avant-garde fusion) and Max Villavechia trio. He has also collaborated in the free sessions (free improvisation) of the venues Soda Acústic, Sinestesia and Robadors 23. Other remarkable recordings are Magnus Luna’s Clarobscur d’atzur’s album (homage to Joan Vinyoli’s poetry, with Max Villavechia and Anna Ferrer); Enric Hernàez’s last three productions, Cançó per a Helena, Prop la via del tren and Himnes (arranging for wind trio, string quartet and voices, respectively), and his experimental electronic music album Electronativa.
