Rafael Murillo Rosado studied with Simon Steen Andersen, José Manuel López López, Michael Beil and José María Sánchez Verdú, in Aarhus (DK), Düsseldorf (DE), Köln (DE) and Zaragoza. He also completed a master’s degree in electroacoustic composition with Alberto Bernal (MAX MSP) and Sergio Luque (SuperCollider) in Madrid.
He received several grants, including the residency grant for young creators from the Antonio Gala Foundation 2006; INJUVE 2008 Contemporary Composition Grant, awarded by the Youth Institute and the Spanish Ministry of Culture; Manuel de Falla Chair Grant 2009, awarded by the Andalusian Council; Permanent Seminar on Composition of the Valencian Institute of Music, 2011; OPUSERASMUS2013, awarded by Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional Boulogne-Billancourt (France).
He has also participated in music festivals such as ENSEMS Festival (Valencia, ES), KLANKEN Festival (Maastricht, NL), Die Lange Nacht den Neuen Musik (Düsseldorf, DE), International Spanish Music Festival (Cadiz, ES), IMPULS15 Copenhagen (DK), MIXTUR FESTIVAL (Barcelona, ES), Mostra Sonora de Sueca (Sueca, ES), Sampler Sèries (Auditori Barcelona, ES), RAMA Festival (Copenhagen, DK) among others.
He is currently the technical director of Ensemble DRAMA !, and he also teaches Orchestration and Composition in the superior grade of composition at the Escuela Superior Taller de Músics in Barcelona.
