Chano has been immersed in a creative and pedagogical process with Thais Hernández, Javier Sánchez, Pau Cullell, Joan Colom, Tomás Pujol, Álvaro López and Pol Leiva, young talents from Taller de Músics ESEM. Together, they have created the show Chano Domínguez & Taller de Músics Ensemble, in which they fuse the various styles of music that form part of Chano Domínguez’s identity as a musician: flamenco, jazz, and Latin. The repertoire includes his own compositions, as well as traditional songs arranged expressly for the show and standards by jazz greats such as Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk, all filtered through the sieve of flamenco palos.
Working and being on stage with this renowned artist is a great opportunity for these young musicians, who aspire to “take an artistic leap” with this project. For his part, Chano affirms that it is a case of mutual enrichment, as working with young musicians “is surprising, they always have something different to what you do”. In addition, he explains that the best reward he can get at the end of this process is “that the students come out of the project stronger and more confident in themselves as musicians”.
