Ramón Díaz Group

Ramón Díaz Group presents Conversations with Chopin in quartet format, a show inspired by the music of the Polish composer, considered to be one of the greatest representatives of Romantic music. Based on melodies from preludes, waltzes, ballads and nocturnes, the band creates an updated reinterpretation through their combined musical experience. The project has a distinctive and personal sound, stemming from their decision not to use the piano, despite it being the musical instrument most associated with Chopin.

More about Ramón Díaz Group

Ramón Díaz Group is a band with more than 20 years of experience and seven albums to its name. The first three were recorded in a quartet formation (Pues sí, O si no, Qué? and Sketches), followed by two albums as a quintet and a sixth as a trio. Four of these works have been released by the prestigious Fresh Sound label. Their latest album returns to the quartet format, further consolidating the group’s evolution.

The group’s fourth album, Diàleg (Fresh Sound, 2005), was widely praised by national and international critics, with reviews in outlets such as Village Voice, Jazz Special, Jazz Hot, Revista de Jazz, Tomajazz, and Apolo y Baco. In addition, in 2006, it won the award for Best Album of the Year and Best Group, both awarded by the Asociación de Músicos de Jazz y Música Moderna de Catalunya (AMJM).

In 2008, the group released their fifth album, Unblocking, which also received favourable reviews from specialized critics, including All About Jazz. Their sixth album, Bumpy Road (Self-released, 2017), recorded in a trio format, was selected by SGAE to be part of the JazzEñe 2017 program.
