Diego Amaya

Diego Gómez Amaya is a flamenco guitarist who, having been born into a family of artists, has had the good fortune to be surrounded by the best in the genre since he was a child. Despite his youth, away from the spotlight he has played with artists such as Duquende, Mayte Martín, La Tana, Israel Fernández and Rancapino Chico, among others.

Biography

On stage, Diego Amaya has mainly performed with his father, the maestro Juan Gómez ‘Chicuelo’, in his guitar concerts and in his shows with singing and dancing. He has also collaborated as a palmero with artists such as Duquende, Encarna Anillo, La Fabi, La Tana, Esperanza Fernández, Paco de Amparo, El Perla, Miguel Ángel Cortés and Yerai Cortés, among others.

He has also participated in several recordings by the music company Solera Flamenca and was part of Chicuelo’s albums Uña y Carne (Discmedi/Taller de Músics, 2019) and Caminos (2022).

He is currently studying music at the Taller de Músics ESEM, specialising in flamenco guitar. His interests, however, are not limited to flamenco and he is also acquiring knowledge of other types of music, including classical orchestration and jazz guitar.
