Kike Pérez Rodríguez was born in Barcelona in 1993 and moved to La Seu d’Urgell where he got interested in music at a very young age. At 6 years old, he joined small percussion bands, and some years later, he joined different rock and blues bands. At 12 years old he began his music training in drums playing in Escola Municipal de Música de la Seu d’Urgell, with Arnau Obiols as a teacher.
When he finished his high school studies, he moved to Barcelona to carry on with his musical training in the Taller de Músics, and took drums classes from Pablo Posa and Ramon Díaz. He also studied with Cristina Canet, Pau Solsona, Jordi Riera, Gustavo Rocha, Raül Reverter and Santi de la Rubia.
Kike is currently studying his Bachelor of Music in the modality of drummer in the Taller de Músics ESEM, where he had the opportunity to attend many masterclasses led by Jordi Gardeñas, Jorge Rossy, David Domínguez, Marc Ayza, Jefferson Otto and Chano Domínguez.
Kike has worked in different bands performing many different styles and has played throughout Spain and Portugal. As a studio musician, he recorded many albums as Racó oblidat del Temps of the band R.O.T., with whom he won prizes in the Festival de las Montañas de Europa TRAMA and SONA 9. He presented the album on stages such as Auditori Nacional d’Andorra or JazzSí Club in Barcelona. He also recorded K-Gonzalez’s and Juan SNK hip-hop albums as a part of the project Cabal Musical of the Taller de Musics.
Kike also participated in the recording of the soundtrack of the film Estiu 1993, directed by Carla Simó. The film was selected by the Spanish academy to participate in the best foreign language film award category.
He is currently the main drummer in Trio Nilo and the Pablo Martín Quartet, with whom he has played on stages such as the Nova Jazz Cava in Terrassa or in the Festival Fringe in l’Estartit, among others.
