Marc Riera

Born in Barcelona in 1978, he is a graduate of the ESMUC in historical bassoons. He also studied flabiol and drum, both in its traditional manifestation (with Carles Mas, Joan Moliner, Iris Gayete and Pep Toni Rubio) and in cobla (Marcel Sabaté, ESMUC)

Biography

He complements his training with numerous courses and as a collaborator of the JONC and the Dutch National Youth Orchestra. At the same time, he is closely linked to popular culture, as an active member of different groups in Barcelona and also in ethnomusicological research. He is also trained in the Rolfing and Alexander techniques of body restoration.

As a performer, he is flabiolaire in the Cobla Sabadell and in groups such as Els Perdigots (official musicians of the Gegants de Barcelona), the band Els Francolins and the electronic fusion project Tamborinu So Obstinat. As a performer of historical bassoons, he is a member of the Compania de Danza i música antita Xuriach, and has collaborated with the Coro Casa da Musica do Porto (Portugal), Capilla Real de Madrid, Ensemble Exaudi Nos, Música Antiga de Girona and in various traditional music groups such as Espremulls and Bufalodre.

As a teacher he has given classes at the Escola de Música Tradicional de Badalona, Centre Artesà Tradicionàrius, Escola de Música de Vilafranca del Penedès and Conservatori de Vilanova i la Geltruí. He currently teaches at the Xamfrà centre in Barcelona.
