Montserrat Lladó

A composer and performer, Montserrat Lladó has received commissions from L’Auditori de Barcelona, the Mixtur Festival, the OUT-SIDE cycle and the CrossingLines ensemble, among others. Her music, which presents malleability of timbre as an essential creative core, has been performed all over the world.

Biography

Montserrat Lladó has a degree in composition from the ESMUC and a master’s degree in piano performance from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. In recent years she has received commissions from L’Auditori, the Mixtur Festival, the OUT-SIDE cycle, the CrossingLines ensemble, the BCN216 ensemble, Yuval Gotlibovich’s New Music Ensemble and the Laboratorio di Musica Contemporanea de Lugano.

Her music has been performed in Barcelona (L’Auditori, Arts Santa Monica), London (St. Alfege Church), Lugano (Lugano Art and Culture), Sofia (21st International Festival for Contemporary Piano Music, Bulgarian National Radio, Main Hall), Vienna (Bulgarian Cultural Center), Bratislava (Bulgarian Cultural Center), Besançon (Museum of Time, Palais Granvelle), La Chaux-de-Fonds (Salle Faller) and Chambésy (Villa Greta).

During her formative and professional years she established a deep connection with both vocal music and chamber music, which is distinctive in her creative process.

She has trained with Christophe Havel, Mauricio Sotelo and José Río-Pareja, and has received master classes from Pierluigi Billone, Bryn Harrison, Charlotte Bray and Clarence Barlow.

Montserrat currently teaches music theory at the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona and gives classes in applied composition and notation at the Taller de Músics Escuela Superior de Estudios Musicales (ESEM).
