Paul Stouthamer is one of the most renowned cellists in the world of jazz and improvisation. The American artist studied classical music in Lille (France) and at the University of Akron (USA) and trained in jazz in Boston with Jimmy Giuffre, Bill Pierce, Jerry Bergonzi, Michael Gibbs and John Laporta. He finished his jazz, improvisation and composition studies at the Berklee College of Music.
Paul Stouthamer has participated in a wide range of projects and has played on American and European stages alongside artists such as Makoto Ozone, Jamil Jones, Willem Breuker, Eric Floeimans, Augustí Fernandez, Jordi Sabatés, Liba Villavecchia, Johannes Ammon, Julian Vaughn, Albert Bover, Ivan Dimitrov and Perico Sambeat, and others.
As a professor, he teaches the subject Improvisation I at the Taller de Músics Escuela Superior de Estudios Musicales.
