Pep-Lluís Guardiola

Born in Granollers, he studied music at the Josep M. Ruera Municipal Music School and also at the Taller de Músics in Barcelona. He studied classical guitar with the concert guitarists Miguel Ángel Cherubito and Josep Henríquez, and modern guitar with Josep Lluís Gámez, Pep O’Callaghan, Javier Feierstein and Vicens Solsona.

Biography

He attended masterclasses from teachers such as Scott Henderson, Mike Stern, Joey Tafolla, Mark Turner, Bruce Saunders, Rick Pekham, Sean Leavitt and Kurt Rosenwinkel, among others. He has a degree in Jazz and Modern Music from ESMUC.

Always open to different musical styles, he has been part of several rock groups such as Los Otros and Style, and groups of other styles such as Jazz Fusion with Hard Tempo, and Country with Harvest Time, etc. In 1986 he received the Joan Altisent Award for his work with the guitar. He has been a contributor and columnist for the magazine Guitar Player.

He currently teaches at the Fusió School in Sant Cugat and at the Taller de Músics in Barcelona. He has given various seminars on modern guitar for Didáctica Musical (Toledo), the Fusió and L’Estudi schools, as well as for the magazine Guitar Player.

In November 2016 he released his last work together with the guitarist Pere Soto and other musicians in a Jazz fusion style CD: Pero Soto & Pep Lluís Guardiola fusió.
