Pere Lluís Biosca

Born in Vilafranca del Penedès in 1977, Pere Lluís Biosca was educated in Barcelona and Helsinki. He is considered one of the Catalan conductors dedicated to vocal music with the greatest projection, and he maintains an intense work as a regular conductor of several formations and as a pedagogue of choral conducting.

Subjects: Instrumental and Vocal Conducting

Biography

His interest in early music led him to create La Xantia, a vocal group dedicated to the recovery and performance of the Catalan repertoire prior to the 19th century, with whom he made two recordings for Musièpoca on the unpublished music of Josep Mir i Llussà and Tomàs Milans i Godayol. It is worth noting that the record dedicated to the music of Josep Mir i Llussà with La Xantia and Vespres d’Arnadí received the Musée d’Or award for the best European recording of summer 2011, among others.

As a conductor, he has also participated in the Gran Teatre del Liceu preparing the choral parts of various productions, such as, for example, Hagman Hagman by L. Balada.

Currently, Pere Lluís Bosca is the titular conductor of the ARSinNOVA Chamber Choir since its foundation, with whom he received numerous awards (National Prize of Choral Singing, Gijón, 2013). He is also conductor of the Cor de Noies de l’Orfeó Català, the Cor de Cambra Francesc Valls of Barcelona Cathedral and the Cor d’Homes d’Igualada.

He teaches the subjects Voice Choir and Instrumental and Vocal Conducting at the Taller de Músics Escuela Superior de Estudios Musicales.
