Publio Delgado is an Andalusian guitarist, composer and producer born in Seville and based in Barcelona. He is a graduate in composition from Berklee College of Music in Boston and ESMUC in Barcelona. Throughout his professional career, he has written and produced music and songs for programmes and documentaries for several Spanish television stations, and some of his works have been awarded prizes by the SGAE.
He teaches Musicology and History of Jazz at the UAB and has taught harmony and composition at the Musikene in San Sebastian and at the Taller de Músics for several years.
He has released several albums, including his first solo album, Zin (2004). He is the author of the Suite Lord Jim for jazz orchestra, premiered at the Barcelona Jazz Festival in 2010 and recorded on CD the same year by Quadrant Records. In 2019 the Lleida Symphony Orchestra (OJC) performed and recorded the album Música Inesperada (OJCSons, 2019) which comprises the musician’s most outstanding symphonic works.
Among his musical influences he acknowledges Javier Delgado, Alban Berg, Paul Simon, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Bach, Frank Sinatra, Debussy, Donald Fagen and Camané, though not necessarily in that order.
