Raül Reverter

Director of Taller de Músics Young Big Band

He began his musical studies at the Escola Municipal de Música de Les Franqueses del Vallès at the age of ten. He studied saxophone at the Conservatori del Liceu and studied with Perico Sambeat and Eladio Reinón in Barcelona and with David Bynnie and Seamus Blake in New York.

Biography

He participated in different seminars and masterclasses with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Michael Brecker, Bruce Barth, Bob Mintzer and Horacio ‘el Negro’ Hernández. He has played with many big bands, such as: Roda de saxos, Big Band del Taller de Músics, Big Bands de Vic, Terrassa y Sedaví (dir. Mike Philip Mossman) and the Barcelona Jazz Orquestra, accompanying musicians like Pat Metheny, Melva Houston, Jerry González, Deborah Carter, Lew Tabackin, Denis Rowland, Silvia Dotre, Laura Simó or Carme Canela. Furthermore, he recorded with Joan Vinyals (Vil-la Blauet), Raynald Colom (Sketches of Groove), Carles Margarit Group (Ahí te quedas!), Ramón Díaz Group, Giulia Valle and Marc Ayza.

In July 2002 he toured Europe with the European Jazz Youth Orchestra conducted by Django Bates, playing at different jazz festivals in Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain and Portugal. In October 2004 he participated in the European Jazz Odissy project (Amiens, France) playing with Bobo Stenson and Tomas Stanko. In 2001 he recorded his first project as a leader Sofas, telèfons i dibuixants de còmics (Freshsound) with Jordi Farrés, Rai Ferrer and Esteve Pi. And in 2009 he edited his second work Trops’s in jazz (Adlibarts), dedicated to serial music, with Jordi Farrés, Tom Warburton and Toni Pagès.

He has worked with film composer Carles Cases on various projects and has recorded for the films La vida Abismal and Barcelona, un mapa, by Ventura Pons, and Oviedo Exprés, by Gónzalo Suárez. He also participated in the project No era lluny ni difícil with the Julià Carbonell Symphony Orchestra, with music by Carles Margarit and poetry by Joan Margarit.

In the educational field, he has worked teaching Saxophone, Musical Language, Harmony, Combo and Ensemble at the Municipal School of Music of Torelló, the Cervetó School of Granollers, Combo of Granollers, El Tram of La Garriga, Passatge of Barcelona, BlueTrain of Sabadell and at the Municipal Schools of Music of Gurb and Sant Joan de Vilatorta. He has also been director of the Municipal Music School of Prats de Lluçanès.
