Roser Monforte

She graduated from the Taller de Músics Escuela Superior de Estudios Musicales with a degree in saxophone, and began studying music at the age of 14 at the EMM Olesa de Montserrat, with Oriol Camprodon.

Biography

She graduated from the Taller de Músics Escuela Superior de Estudios Musicales with a degree in saxophone, and began studying music at the age of 14 at the EMM Olesa de Montserrat, with Oriol Camprodon. She worked with many bands and groups of different styles, of which the most relevant ones: Makarra Funk, El Conjunto Musical de Corte Moderno, Möek (Mediterranean and Balkan music), Om Tara Project (jazz / Indian music), or with the Sardinian singer-songwriter Carlo Donneddu.

Her career has also taken her to the world of theatre and she has been a member of the theatre company Comediants, in the show Dimonis, with whom she was able to perform all over the world (Taiwan, Romania, Belgium…). She participated in renowned festivals such as the Donostia – Heineken Jazzaldia Jazz Festival, the SOS Murcia, the Grec Festival in Barcelona, the Connexions Festival in Barcelona and the Valencia Jazz Festival. She also performed at renowned venues and theatres such as the Palau de la Música Catalana, Teatre Grec in Barcelona, L’Auditori and O2 Stadium in London.

She currently directs Jazz Do it and the Afro-Catalan Omelet Soul Band (a tribute to Cannonball Adderley and Joe Zawinul). She is a member of the Micaela Chalmeta Big Band and the Original Jazz Orchestra (OJO) of the Taller de Músics, with performances alongside renowned artists like Martirio, Soledad Jiménez, Fermín Muguruza, Jorge Pardo, Cris Juanico, La Mala Rodríguez, Big Mama, Antonio Zambujo and Santiago Auserón, to name a few.
