The flamenco fusion group Libérica will present their new project Arrels on a sustainable tour taking them to Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Tilburg and Utrecht. The band, led by Catalan double bassist Manel Fortià, seeks common ground between traditional Catalan songs and flamenco, using free jazz as a driving force. In this project, the musicians revisit Catalan standards through the flamenco sound.
The scheduled concerts are part of the Green Pilot Tours project of the Europe Jazz Network (EJN), co-funded by the European Union as part of the Creative Europe 2022-2024 programme. The initiative consists of supporting a tour with at least four stops in different venues or festivals by at least two artists from EJN member organisations. It focuses on an innovative touring model based on sustainability and fair and balanced practices in the music sector, as well as inclusion and gender equality policies.

GREEN PILOT TOURS
The added value of this concert tour is born from a desire to reduce its environmental impact. In order to do this, a series of actions are to be carried out, including the use of a single flight to and from the country of origin and otherwise travelling from one city to another in an electric car. Furthermore, there will not be any physical materials such as handheld programmes or CDs. Instead, everything will be accessible via a QR-code on a sustainable booklet containing seeds. Once used, this leaflet can be planted and given a second life. Lastly, the venues have committed to promoting sustainable mobility on concert days and to not generating plastic waste. In addition, a percentage of the profits from this tour will be donated to the Reforesta reforestation project.
