Promoting musical talent in the neighbourhoods
Cabal Musical is a social innovation project for inclusion by way of artistic guidance of young musical talents. Participating groups and musicians receive training, guidance and resources to turn their creative concerns into entrepreneurial projects and in order for them to enter the sector. We support musical talent through contributing to the transformation and dynamisation of underprivileged neighbourhoods and areas, and in addition, to the empowerment of their inhabitants. That is why Taller de Músics offers its resources and experience in musical training and the cultural industry to the project.
The project began in 2014, in the districts of Nou Barris, Sant Andreu and Sant Martí, thanks to the support of the Barcelona City Council. It is currently still running as part of the Eix Besòs strategy. Since the 2016-2017 edition, it has been carried out in agreement with the Consorci del Besòs and has been extended to the municipalities of Sant Adrià del Besòs, Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, and Montcada i Reixac.
CABAL MUSICAL is a project of social innovation for inclusion, based on the artistic accompaniment of young musicians. The participants receive training, guidance and professional resources to turn their creative concerns into entrepreneurial projects and in order to enter the sector. We support musical talent in order to contribute to the transformation and dynamisation of the neighbourhoods, and in addition, to the empowerment of their inhabitants. That is why Taller de Músicos provides its resources and experience in music education and the cultural industry.
A call is made in collaboration with public facilities and entities in the domain. We are looking for young groups and musicians with talent but without a solid background or enough resources to access. They are asked to be willing to make a qualitative leap in their proposals. In a live audition, a jury selects the participants according to artistic and social criteria.
The participating groups and musicians receive intense preparation by the best professionals. The training covers the following areas: musical, artistic and staging, communication and marketing 2.0, technical, labour, copyright, corporate image and aesthetics, photography and video, management, contracting and invoicing, recording.
The training culminates with the recording of a model in a professional studio, the recording of a music video, and the realisation of a promotional photo session with a specialised photographer. Groups and musicians actively participate in the production along with recognised professionals of the sector
After the training, the participants enjoy an accompaniment in their introduction to the professional music sector. They receive support in aspects such as recruitment and production of performances; management of employment; copyright; promotion and distribution strategies.
