Edu Pons is a saxophonist who defines himself first and foremost as a listener. His musical explorations span from jazz to folk and from classical music to free improvisation. With the transmission of emotions as his guiding principle, his musical origins are rooted in aggressive Soul and R&B. He trained as a classical saxophonist at the Huesca Conservatory under David Ruiz, with whom he worked on contemporary music repertoire, and later founded his own projects while completing his education at the Taller de Músics ESEM in Barcelona.
Edu Pons has developed a personal voice that navigates between dreamy murmurs and wild roars. He has collaborated with eclectic groups such as Marina Herlop, Omar Sosa & Taller de Músics Ensemble, bassist Giulia Valle, and the irreverent Reptilian Mambo. He is the founder of bands like Hulm, Hekura, Lidia Facerías & Edu Pons, Bang Mantra, and In Roots, with which he has released various recordings. He has performed at festivals such as Sónar, Slap!, Pirineos Sur, Vijazz, Estival de Jazz de Igualada, and the Zaragoza Jazz Festival, among others.
Currently, he combines his musical activity with teaching at the Taller de Músics Escuela de Música, where he serves as a saxophone instructor and teaches Music Theory, Ear Training, Harmony, and Jazz Techniques.
