Marcel·lí Bayer

Born in Barcelona, Marcel·lí Bayer is an active musician, particularly in jazz and improvised music. He plays all types of saxophones, clarinets, flutes, and small electronic instruments.

He studied at the Luthier school, the Taller de Músics, and the University of Barcelona (Musical Education), earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Saxophone from ESMUC in 2010.

Biography

Currently, he performs with Núria Graham, Albert Cirera i Kamarilla, Tàlveg – alongside Oriol Roca and Ferran Fages – and Seward, and has established duos with guitarist Amidea Clotet and poet Oriol Sauleda.

He has also collaborated with artists such as Marina Herlop, Lucía Fumero, Meritxell Neddermann, Lulú Martorell, Juliane Heinemann, Adriano Galante, Marco Mezquida, Martín Leiton, and Dan Mangan, among others.

Marcel·lí Bayer has contributed to around fifty recordings as a sideman and has released seven as a leader: Nonitz featuring Lee Konitz (Quadrant Records, 2011); Les Narrations (Whatabout Music, 2013); 1680 (Discordian Records, 2014); Niketchrin (Creative Sources, 2017); Two Horses (Underpool, 2019); La Hilatura (2021); The Brightest Point (2024).
