Monique Makon’s powerful voice joins the Original Jazz Orchestra Taller de Músics (OJO) to create Back to Amy, the first big band tribute to Amy Winehouse in Spain. Together they pay tribute to her through a repertoire of 12 of the British singer’s best-known songs.
After their last two productions with Stefano Palatchi (2017) and Santi Arisa (2018), the Original Jazz Orchestra Taller de Músics returns to the scene with Monique Makon, under the direction of trumpeter David Pastor and the arrangements of saxophonist Mario Roldán.
In 2019, this new connection between the big band and Cabal Musical, the Taller de Músics’ project of social innovation, emerges with the desire to present Monique Makon’s voice on a large scale. The participant of Cabal Musical is one of the most promising young talents of the black music scene in the city and moves comfortably through genres such as jazz, soul and rhythm & blues.
