Matices is Sara Aldana’s debut album, a conceptual work that explores human emotions through the psychology of colour. Each song is associated with a different colour and its symbolic meaning, creating an intimate sonic universe where Latin American roots meet jazz, Afro music and singer-songwriter influences.

One of the album’s standout tracks is “Somos (Marrón)”, inspired by the experiences of migrants. Developed from stories shared by members of her own community, the song reflects on displacement, longing, the hope of returning home and the enduring bond with one’s roots. In this context, the colour brown represents the earth, humility, belonging and the emotional connection to the place we come from.

With Matices, Sara Aldana establishes a distinctive and coherent artistic voice, where songwriting, vocal performance and musical arrangements come together in the service of a deeply emotional narrative. The result is an honest and heartfelt album that invites listeners to explore a wide range of emotions while discovering a musical language shaped by Latin, jazz and Afro influences.

The album was considered for the Latin Grammy Awards in 2025.
