Itziar Viloria

Itziar Viloria is a composer and visual artist. Her interest in different artistic disciplines and types of collaboration has led her to work with musicians, architects, set designers and actors from different backgrounds with whom she develops her intermedia language through composition and performance.

 

Biography

During her training, she took classes with Christophe Havel, Pierre Jodlowski and Mauricio Sotelo and masterclasses from Peter Ablinger, Ann Cleare, Sam Pluta, Carola Bauckholt, Francesco FIlidei and Elena Rykova, among others. As a composer, she has received commissions from Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Holland), Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Festival Impuls (Austria), Festival Mixtur (Barcelona), the Real Filharmonía de Galicia and the Euskadiko Orkestra. She was also selected to take part in the Ulysses Network Programme (Creative Europe) Composers Journeys project in 2021 and 2022.

Her interest in composing mixed and electroacoustic music has also led to her working as an electronic performer and technical producer, playing at the Ircam ManiFeste Festival in Paris and at L’Auditori in Barcelona, among others.

She is currently part of the FRAMES Percussion project and is the technical producer for the Difraccions cycle. With the aim of broadening her technical training in multimedia creation, she is studying a postgraduate course in staging and digital technologies at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona.
