Laia Pedrol

Born in Barcelona in 1979, she began her training at the Conservatori de Sabadell, her city of residence, studying piano (Glòria Peig), singing (Elisenda Cabrero) and recording. She complemented this training by studying piano and jazz harmony (Valentí Adell), choral conducting (Josep Prats, Néstor Andrenacci and Johan Duijck) and traditional percussion (Mauricio Molina, Víctor Pedrol and Vanesa Muela).

As a performer, she has significant experience in the choral world as a singer, conductor, soloist and coordinator of various projects. In the field of traditional music, she is a member of the traditional polyphony groups De Calaix and Les Majorales de la Nit, as well as a soloist in the group Adufera (with Pepe Luna, Marc Egea and Mauricio Molina), and she also collaborates as a singer, percussionist and arranger in different productions. Also noteworthy is her work around the genres of improvised song, as a member of the collective “Cor de carxofa” and active glossier.

She has a diploma in Teaching (specialised in Musical Education) from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and furthered her studies in musical pedagogy with Ester Bonal and with various complementary courses. As a teacher, she has taught different subjects (piano, language, choral singing, traditional polyphony, vocal technique, instrumental ensemble…) in different centres and workshops.
