Sergi Masalias

Composer and performer Sergi Masalias (Montblanc, 2000) completed his performance studies at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) in 2023. A year later, he finished the Barcelona Jazz Master with a specialization in composition, under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer Lluís Vidal, with whom he deepened the development of his own musical language.

Biografía

A gralla player, he has led several projects linked to traditional Catalan and Valencian music, including Els Ginjolers, Bad Step Project and Oxímoron. His compositional style is characterized by the fusion of traditional music and contemporary jazz.
He is currently part of a new project by the Barcelona Art Orchestra, in which he will participate as a composer and performer, contributing to the creation of an original piece within this collective framework. At the same time, he takes part in the theatre world as a member of the musical theatre production Clavellines d’Aire, the opening show commemorating the centenary of Antoni Gaudí’s death.
Masalias has been recognized with several awards, most notably the first prize at the Street Music Composition Competition of Vilafranca del Penedès in 2024 and 2025, as well as the first and second prizes for street music composition awarded by the Associació Cultural Ara i Sempre.
