Within flamenco, dance is one of the most important disciplines, which is why we also promote this specialty at Taller de Músics by creating an interconnection between dance and music students.
What differentiates us and makes us a different school from the rest, is that our dance students are in direct contact with musicians from the areas of Flamenco and Jazz, making us the only school in Barcelona that creates a synergy between dance students and music students.
On the other hand, and faithful to our main objective of offering training that allows our students to gain experience on stage, dance students have the opportunity to access different activities and areas of the Taller de Músics, as they are able to participate in:
In the flamenco dance classes, we will work on compás, arms, foot technique and codes characteristic of tablao dance. In addition, the different flamenco palos will be studied so that the student is able to internalise these and show the expression that each requires.
It is necessary to bring flamenco dance shoes, since these will be our percussive instrument, and comfortable clothes to move freely.
Ruth Quesada is a dancer, teacher and organiser of flamenco events. She has trained with great masters such as La Tani, El Farón, María del Mar Moreno, María José González, among other flamenco professionals in Barcelona and Madrid. Besides her flamenco studies, she has also been in contact with other styles such as classical, castanets, belly dance and contemporary. As far as her professional activity is concerned, she has worked as a bailaora (flamenco dancer) in different venues and tablaos in Barcelona that dynamise flamenco, such as the JazzSí Club, the Paraigües or the Rouge Raval.
