Adrià Plana

Adrià Plana was born in Vic (Barcelona) in 1989 and has been interested in music since childhood. He studied at the Vic Conservatoire and at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), where he graduated with a degree in guitar and jazz. During this period he was influenced by the teachers around him and by important figures of Catalan jazz such as Dani Pérez, David Xirgu or Jordi Rossy.

Biografía

The guitarist has accompanied numerous artists from the world of song and jazz. He has performed at festivals such as the Mercat de Música Viva in Vic and the Barcelona Jazz Festival, and has been invited on several occasions by the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC). His first work as a leader, Small Axe (Robert Nesta Songs, 2013), has been awarded by the Associació de Músics de Jazz i Músics Moderna de Catalunya (AMJM) as the best jazz album of the year 2013. In 2014 he recorded his project Les Cançons de la Surgència and in 2016 published El Disc de la Surgència. In 2015 he released his project about Sir. Ernest Shackleton Tot és Blanc, and in 2017 L’Auditori de Barcelona commissioned him to be the musical director of the show Revisiting Bowie.

Adrià Plana has been teaching at the Escola Municipal de Música i Dansa Miquel Pongiluppi del Papiol since 2013. He is also currently teaching the Repentisation course at the Taller de Músics Escuela Superior de Estudios Musicales.
