After an extensive career as a sideman, in 2017 Santi de la Rubia launched his first album as a leader, entitled Broken Line (Underpool, 2017). It is a work comprising original music and some traditional jazz. The work evokes New York jazz of the 90s with the energetic influence of Hard Bop.
Santi de la Rubia Trio is presented without harmonic instrumentation. He shares the stage with two musicians who he has worked with for years, and they have a special mutual understanding: the double bass player Marc Cuevas and the drummer Roger Gutiérrez. Together they have managed to create a stable trio that allows them to exploit the power of their music to the maximum.
