Adult Program

The Adult Program is a project aimed at people over 40 who want to start or resume playing an instrument.

If you have not been able yet to play or continue playing the instrument you like, you will be able to find four modalities in the Adult Program that will allow you to put it into practice: instrument, combo-band, big band and theoretical concepts. A musical meeting place where you will be able to interact with your classmates by practising music, participating in workshops and through instrument classes and group training.

The methodology is based on learning to listen and read and on how to be culturally aware and play the instrument through songs that can be proposed by the students themselves and thanks to the teachers. But learning also requires personal work outside the classroom in order toto achieve a satisfactory evolution.

Taller de Músics offers you a professional team of teachers who will guide and accompany you in your musical learning. The teaching team is made up of 3rd and 4th-year students who are currently studying modern music, jazz and flamenco at the Taller de Músics Bachelor of Music.

Adult Program Information

Who is the Adult Program for?

It’s never too late to learn music! Taller de Músics’ Adult Program is a project aimed at people over the age of 40 interested in music, with musical aptitudes, enthusiasm and respect for this art. It works in a fun and practical way, simplifying the professional learning process.

Modalities

*Adult Program groups have limited places.

Instrument – Collective
The purpose of the collective instrument classes is to form musical groups capable of playing a score. They will be created taking into account the different levels and adapting each formation to the instruments that make it up. Together, the aim is to give students the opportunity to enrich themselves in the musical and social field.

Combo-band
The Combo-band format is designed so that the student is able to perform a specific repertoire in a group, enhancing the listening of the different instruments of the band and deepening the listening and reading comprehension that will help put the performance into practice. Students with some knowledge of music reading can participate.

Big Band
Large format combo-band. In order to participate, an optimal level of music reading and basic control of tuning is required (a level test will be carried out to gain access).

Rhythmic Laboratory

This module is designed to learn how to play together with the instruments that form part of the rhythmic base of a group. The objective is to learn the different types of basic accompaniments within each musical style. In addition, respect for an established rhythmic pattern and openness to improvisation are worked on. Students learn to assume a role within the group, respecting the roles of others, as well as to improvise and compose based on the ideas of other instruments. Emphasis is also placed on playing while listening to the tempo of the ensemble and correctly articulating the important accents of each musical phrase.

Wind Laboratory

This module is for wind players who want to improve their skills in the context of a big band or ensemble. The course focuses on essential aspects such as articulation, tuning, subdivision, rhythm and expressive resources, working with specific arrangements for wind sections. It is ideal for those who already play in a big band and want to improve their skills, as well as for those who wish to prepare to join one. It is also suitable for musicians who play in a combo and want to improve their interpretation of melodies and musical expression within the group. Students will work in depth on these fundamentals in a collaborative environment and always with other musicians at their level.

Theoretical concepts

This is a subject in which important concepts of musical language are worked on in a generic way. From recognising the codes (notes, rhythms, signs and tonalities) to reading the score with agility, to an introduction to harmony. This subject can be taken voluntarily by all Adult Program participants at no extra cost.

Individual instrument classes

We also offer the possibility of individual instrument classes if the student wishes to deepen and work more on the practice of the instrument. It works with a system of packs of 3 or 5 classes at very advantageous prices.
