International Mobility

The ESEM has had international aspirations since the moment of its creation, in keeping with the long tradition of the Taller de Músics. A key element for continuously improving the quality of teaching and research at the ESEM must be to share information and experience with overseas schools and also to be present in those arenas where we can best represent and defend our interests. Consequently, this international impulse has manifested itself in our participating on one hand; in networks of European and International schools, in order to present the school's project and to contribute to the development of new educational initiatives in higher musical education, and on the other hand; in mobility programmes, which are growing year on year.

Mobility Programmes

The Erasmus+ programme, and specifically Key Action 1 for the mobility of students and teachers in higher education, is the primary means of mobility in our centre. The Taller de Músics ESEM gained the Erasmus Charter in 2014 and since the 2016/17 academic year there are some students and teachers from our centre participating in mobilities in a network of European partners which is continuously growing.

The ESEM is also open to and interested in receiving students from other centres for periods of study, whether that be via the Erasmus+ programme or through specific agreements.

Association Européenne de Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC)

The AEC is a network of European higher music education institutions, founded in 1953, which includes over 300 members in 55 different countries. The aim of this Brussels-based organisation is to support musical education through European projects, events and exchanges, as well as representing the interests of its members.

The Taller de Músics ESEM was presented as a new member at the 43rd Annual Congress and General Meeting of the AEC in November 2016 in Gothenburg (Sweden) and participates in various working groups.

The web de l'AEC is a tool full of resources for both institutions and their employees, and for students, especially regarding mobility programmes.

International students

Access for international students must be done always via entrance test, which require an official recognition of the studies or degree obtained abroad equivalent to the local Baccalaureate (visit Departament d'Ensenyament website).
